Recently, the Tanzania Government amended its Finance Act (CAP.415), 2022 section 7 (1), thus affecting all the Shipping Agencies operating in their region.
What Does This Mean for Ship Agencies in Tanzania?
Previously, Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC) had the exclusive mandate to perform all Ship Agency Services.
But with the new changes in regulations, termed the “Exclusive Mandate”, it allows for private shipping agency companies (like Ourselves) to be nominated, appointed, or elected as the intermediate Port Agents in the region.
Therefore, we will act on behalf of the principals (this includes – Ship Owners, Charterers, Despondent Owners etc.), and perform all ship agency services.
What Ship Agency Operations Will We Handle?
- Booking of vessels for port operations, including pilot and tugboat services.
- Submission of crew and passenger manifest to local immigration authorities.
- Handle all customs with appropriate authorities.
- Completion of all vessel clearance documentation.
- Provide Consultancy on ship arrival and cargo on board.
- Supervision of Cargo loading, container handling, break-bulk discharging, and bulk liquids operations.
- Ship husbandry (this includes – fuel, repairs, and maintenance).
